SUGAR AND MOCHA

Updated: Oct 29, 2020

If you didn't know, I have two dogs. Their names are Mocha and Sugar. Sugar is a morkie and Mocha is a havapoo. Sugar is about to turn 4 on January 11th and Mocha is about to turn 1 on January 7th. When we first got Sugar, my family and I didn't know how I would react since I am very allergic to dogs. We got her and she didn't bother me at all. The reason she didn't bother my allergies is because she is a hypoallergenic dog and so is Mocha.

The definition of hypoallergenic is relatively unlikely to cause an allergic reaction. So a hypoallergenic dogs means they shed little to no fur. Since the dogs don't shed, the allergy-causing danders don't get released onto the floor or into the air. While hypoallergenic dogs don't bother me, doesn't mean that they won't bother other people with allergies. No dogs are truly allergy-safe. Different breeds of dogs are hypoallergenic, like the maltese and yorkie, which is what Sugar is a mix of.

When you are looking to buy a dog, especially when you have allergies, it is important to do some research. The first step is finding what breed of dog you want. There are lots of hypoallergenic dogs so this process could take a while. Next, you want to find a breeder that breeds the type of dog you are wanting. You always want to make sure the breeder is a well known, reputable breeder so you know you are getting a good dog. When you find the breeder you want, make sure to contact and tell them you want a dog before they already are full with dog request. Then, you want to do some more research on your breed of dog to know what kind of food, bed, and toys they need. Make sure to consider the size of your dog when buying things for it. The last step is to get and name the dog.
